Have you ever attended a party? Of course you have! How did you find out about it? Someone probably sent you an invitation and asked you to come. That’s how most of us in the party-attending world find out about such events! If you’re a business owner, you should think about your business like a party. Are you sending invitations out on a regular basis? That’s a simple way to look at your advertising strategy! How many more people do you think would attend your “party” if you simply asked them to come? If your competition is advertising and you’re not then they’re likely getting more business. Of course that’s not a universally true statement, but more of a general rule of thumb. If you take the time to “ask” people to come to your business through your website, then you’ll no doubt be more successful than if you hadn’t asked them…simple, but true!
“Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell, and advertise”
I’ve seen this quote attributed to two people…Ted Turner and Laurence J. Peter. Regardless of who said it, I believe it to be very insightful when it comes to gaining new customers. Working hard will only get you so far. At some point you have to let others know what you’re doing that is so great and why it’s worthy of their consideration (money). If your store sells the world’s greatest widget but nobody knows about it…how many will you sell? Some…but probably not as many as you could if you were to advertise this fact to consumers that are in desperate need of a new widget! You’re having a party in the widget store every day…send invitations and ask people to join you! Tell them how your widget will benefit their lives and you may sell more widgets than you thought possible. Your SEO can do that for you. Your potential customers are out there looking for products or services like yours….tell them where they can find you! Check out our blog post on why investing in a website is important…you can do that here! If you have a great website, you may as well tell people how to find it…a.k.a….invite them to your party!!!
